Views sought for Southend transport plan
Local people are being asked to give their views on the future of transport in Southend.
The online consultation, launched by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, is live until Wednesday 28 October.
It seeks views on:
- The modes of transport used by residents
- The impact of climate change on transport
- What impact different modes of transport have on the local economy
- Planned growth in transport for the coming years
- The impact of Covid-19 on transport modes
The responses will feed into the council’s interim transport strategy, which sets out key ambitions of what transport will look like in Southend by 2050.
The interim transport strategy will then influence the new Local Transport Plan, which the Council is legally required to produce by 2022.
A spokesperson said: “These surveys play a key role in the work to create firstly the interim transport strategy, and later down the line, our new Local Transport Plan. These documents are essential when planning how we can improve transport across the borough for our residents.
“The surveys cover an array of topics around transport, including the impact of Covid-19 on travel patterns. So now more than ever, we need to harness a greater understanding of what people want to see with regards to transport across Southend. This is not just about roads and cars, this includes public transport, cycle lanes, walkways and much more.
“It is important to note that we need as much feedback as possible, so it is really important that residents take part in the surveys so we can ensure our approach suits the current and future needs of local people.”
